Hossein Jaberi Ansari who was responding on Thursday to US unilateral sanctions against Iran for alleged violation of JCPOA and Resolution 2231, told reporters that no authority or action would deny Iran its legitimate rights to strengthen its defensive infrastructure and national security; “the Islamic Republic of Iran will definitely prepare due response in action to interventionist policies of the US as President Rouhani issued a directive to Minister of Defense sanctioning these types of actions,” Jaberi Ansari told the press.
“Today, in times post-JCPOA, time has passed when in an atmosphere poisoned by Iranophobia, unfounded pretexts provided the great powers political means to depict Iran as a threat to international peace; in a time of sheer chaos and dangerous political terrain of the region, the Islamic Republic of Iran is an island of stability and a ballast for the region as well,” he emphasized.
“Iran’s missile program seeks solely to protect its territorial integrity and sovereignty and in line with global fight against extremism and terrorism and will positively contribute to global security; the US should abandon policies which only exacerbates the highly volatile conditions, should address real security necessities of the Middle East such as nuclear disarmament of Israel, discourage its allies in the region their devastating role in Yemen, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon in joining efforts to tackle the threat of ISIL,” said the spokesperson.
